Mondays & Magic: Skybound Trading Company

Questhaven will be taking a magical medieval society to its logical extreme; while there will not be an industrial revolution, I can see certain special craftsmen and professions taking advantage of magical items.

Questhaven is ruled by the Questor’s Society, a guild of adventurers, they are the cities nobility. They have a great deal of money, and a lot of magic, there is also the Honorable Order of the Theurgic Craftsmen which controls the sale of magic items. .

Questhaven will have it as an option for GMs to use or not to use, but the Honorable Order of Theurgic Craftsmen has its own unique way of maintaining its medieval monopoly on this trade along with laws passed down by the Circle of Heroes (chosen leaders of the Questor’s Society).

The City of Spells series will be taking a look at how the magic of the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game has affected the culture of Questhaven.

Airwalk:

The Skybound Trading Company is a coalition of adventurer merchant princes who use a variety of specially trained dire animals and magical beasts equipped with harnesses that allow the creatures to airwalk. A large number of the animals are also controlled by charm effects as well.

They are able to carry more than a traditional caravan and are not limited to specific trade routes like the Adamantine Road. Though some rivals are trying to recuit monstrous mercenaries of aerial pirates to raid these caravans.

One of the most popular uses is in being able to bring trees from locations normally unreachable locations there is also a growing tourism from those who wish to see or travel to these remote locations. It is rumored that the merchant princes have actually created Tree Farms in a few of these locations using the power of plant growth spells.

Airwalking: Behirs, Bulettes, Dinosaurs, Dire Bison, Dire Elephants, Eleasmosaurus, Hyrdras, Gorgons, Owlbears, and Triceratops have all been seen as part of the caravans.

Adventure Seeds: the most common way that adventures become involved with the trading company is ground support guards, a need to be transported quickly to a remote location easily reached by the Skybound.

Campaign Seeds: The merchant princes have recruited a few members of the Questor’s Society grooming them to take over some day, and seeking their assistance against their rivals as they try to grow their economic and political power, along with the various charities they support and the valuable work they provide.
