Stealing back what LPJr stole from me that I stole from Wolfgang

So assuming I am approved for the Pathfinder Compatabililty Licence, its going to be a patronage project.

I am taking a page from both Wolfgang Baur's Open Design and Louis Porter Jr.'s Obsidian Twilight (think Ravenloft meets Darksun)

So assuming I am approved I am thinking bronze level and doing a planer sandbox style location, adventure sites rather than a traditional adventure.

Bronze level (Adventurer)
$30.00  standard patronage
Silver level (Trailblazer)
$75.00  senior patronage
Gold level (Pathfinder)
$150.00 senior + signed copy+ pitch ideas to the author at every stage.

I know I would see if Ryan Barger could do another cover for us, his work on Rituals of Choice is just amazing.

Jonathan Roberts would be my choice for cartographer.

I have a feeling I will still be working on Rituals of Choice and Jade Oath to be the author of this project.   Maybe I will ask Wolfgang if he can recomend someone who is not snowed under with work, but I have plenty of time, we have not even been approved for the licence yet.  If I am lucky Bill Collins will be available by that time, but best bet will be to let the patrons decide, a pathfinder scenerio writer would not be a bad choice.

I will probably twist Soren K Thustrup's arm about doing the editing.

Anyway its a nice dream, its 4:20 am time to wake up :)

Pathfinder Rolelaying Game Compatiblity

Hello readers,

If you follow this blog at all you have read about my work on a city supplement book told from an adventure's first person point of view, similar to how we do our monster books first person point of view. This will be an adventure's tour book if you will.  Originally this was going to be systemless, well today that changed.

Learn more about the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game at paizo.com.

I submitted for compatability today.

You can see our listing HERE (scroll down to Rite Publishing)

Now don't go all crazy, this is for one product line that was going to be Systemless originally, I wanted to do something that had RiP's own IP, I am still using the OGL, if Paizo evokes the licence, I simply have to remove the logo.

I am not abandoning AE and this product will still be useable if you play AE,  All our other product lines still "Require the Use of Monte Cook's Arcana Evolved"

All that is really happening is that I am adding The Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Compatable Logo and stats blocks, to a product that did not have statblocks or a logo before.

I am looking forward to august when I can release this product.

Steve

The Sojourn of Victor Ward

Chapter One, Scene One: HARBINGERS

He shalt have many names, not all shalt be kind.  Yet, for a time he shalt have only the name of a champion and a charge”---Prophecies of the Fallen Kingdom, author unknown, est. -1000 bh

A few standing against many: A fair-haired youth with bright eyes, a diseased and deranged woman with untamed dark hair, and an old man with misshapen legs and a walking stick.  They are standing against six soldiers of the western imperium.  The first, their captain, with black eagle pins new upon his collar, rushes the unarmed boy.  The second, a raw recruit, with eyes of green to match the green of the imperium’s uniform waits with eagerly shining eyes, and the third, a grizzled veteran with a scar running from left ear to left eye, charges the old man; the remaining three go for the sick woman.

The captain feints and the boy dodges right into the captain’s second strike, his bright eyes reminding the captain of his own son's.  There is an audible click; the old man moves like coiled lightning with a single mirrored flash in the air.  The raw recruit’s hand lies upon the ground and lying next to it, dead, is the veteran, his throat cut wide open.  The handless one screams.  The forth soldier closes with the sick woman but before his blade leaves its scabbard, his feet lift off the ground and his throat makes a disgusting crunch.  His body then flies onto the fifth soldier’s blade, trapping it, the fifth soldier’s eye explodes in his head, his screaming drowns out the handless one.  The sixth soldier makes a quick thrust and strikes something solid he cannot see, and the blade sticks in the air.  Then the sixth soldier’s elbow inverts with a satisfying crack bent the wrong way.  His screaming makes for a calliope of sound with the other two soldiers.  When attacked with arms, destroy the arm” the sick woman says in precise, clipped tones as if she is quoting some esoteric martial text.  The captain turns and flees, and his remaining men follow him.  Spread legend, fear and that your only hope is to flee before us” she finishes, in the same concise and exacting pattern of speech.

Stooping over the boy’s body the crippled old man grumbles in a voice strained by years and hard use.  Time for us to flee, was before the price was paid.”

The old man’s twisted legs slow them all, but they crash through the dark forest.  Slipping in black mud, falling, tasting fear and the hunger of their own need, “Gold doesn't lose its worth, when it falls into the mire,” says the sick woman as she laughs her maniacal laugh.  The diseased woman lifts the boy’s body and pulls the old man along with a strength her body could not posses.  She does not feel her broken toes or her bruised ribs.  Her illness long ago robbed her of those senses, along with most of her mind.

The old man groans more from the constant foolishness the sick woman spouts than the constant pain in his legs.  Luck hates me” he protests rather loudly.  Suddenly, the captain bursts out, wielding a long knife—the old man’s sword-cane flicks out and is then a cane again; the captain lay dead.  And death loves me” the old man whispered.  The sick woman giggled, “The uncontrollable hunger, uncontrollably hungered for.”  The old man groaned again.  He could not decide if the sick woman meant death or love, he hoped she had meant love.  The boy said nothing.

He had not had the heart to tell the sick woman to leave the boy behind, not that the sick woman would have listened.  It did not matter.  He had one last duty to perform before he would lie down and die.  A message to the Exemplar and they had almost reached his haven.

Glorious Strangers to the Jade Oath

Here is my rough first pitch of an adventure seed:

A long terrible winter has ended, and with it the arrival of the Whispering Warlord of the Tiger Generals. He has solidified his control over the land by damning up the major river leading into the hidden valley. The spring rains have not come and drought now threatens even those who obey the Whispering Warlord.  The most promising hope against this tyrannical rule, a scholar who claimed the warlord was acting against the “mandate of heaven” was recently killed by the Whispering Warlord’s enforcers the Kwan Family of Lotus Mountain which has been involved in the martial underground or “Jianghu” for seventh generation. The patriarch is The Harmonious Ghost, who is counseled by his youngest brother the eunuch Blighted Jade. The patriarch’s eldest son Proud Sword and youngest daughter Princess of the Blades serve as his enforcers. Yet something more is going on as the warlord is fantically searching for The Jade Shards of Heaven and Earth, saying he needs them to end the drought, though few are willing to trust the motives of a tyrant.

Into these interesting times arrive the Glorious Strangers to the Jade Oath (the PCs), guided by the Honorable Ghost of the Rebellious Scholar who seeks their aid in ending the drought and freeing the land from the Kwan Family of Lotus Mountain and The Whispering Warlord of the Tiger Generals.

 Kwan Family of Lotus Mountain

Princess of the Blades (lady of war, akashic) youngest daughter

Blighted Jade (evil eunuch chancellor, magister), brother of The Harmonius ghost/uncle
